Leadership

James Lonsdale-Hands – General Manager
James Lonsdale-Hands brings more than 25 years of conference and events industry experience to ActiveEvents. As our General Manager, he drives strategy, marketing and product direction. Prior to joining ActiveEvents, James served as the vice president of events and publisher of Embedded Franchise for United Business Media, a leading global business media company. While there, he managed all aspects of the day-to-day business operations for the brand and was responsible for the division’s business performance including sales, strategy, events and more. Before that, James served as director of new business and marketing for the George P. Johnson Company, a worldwide marketing agency. He has also held sales and marketing positions for a number of events organizations including Wyndham Jade, Eco Expo and Reed Midem.

Eric Olson – Associate General Manager
Eric Olson is responsible for driving the global strategy for the ActiveEvents solution set. Before joining the company, Eric was vice president of marketing and media for a prominent education provider, specializing in online courses, virtual events and live conferences. In seven years he grew the company’s annual revenues from less than $10 million to more than $140 million, primarily through expansion of its events portfolio.

JR Sherman – Managing Director of Global Consulting Services
Focusing on the company‘s consulting vision and strategy, JR Sherman has pioneered ActiveEvents approach to global consulting, marketing data management, measurement and channel integration. As the founder of Channel:1 Worldwide and the former CEO of Right Source, JR has been creating and delivering some of the IT industry‘s most innovative sales and marketing solutions on a global basis for more than 15 years.

Dane Risley – Senior Director of Sales
Dane Risley has leveraged his extensive industry background to drive ActiveEvents growth and success. As a former sales and operations executive for Channel:1 Worldwide, Dane has been paramount in developing current ActiveEvents client relationships, and building the highly-regarded client teams that service and manage them.

Josh Pearlman – Director of Sales
Josh is an innovative leader that has over 18 years executive sales and management experience, with primary accomplishments in building sales teams, strategic sales planning, and driving results. Josh has been recognized for building, mentoring, and leading highly motivated and productive teams.

Doug Baird – Technology Strategy
Doug Baird is a founding partner of WingateWeb, which is now part of ActiveEvents. Doug oversees the technology direction for ActiveEvents and is responsible for future product strategy. His technology solutions have been widely adopted by event planners, and his expertise in applying technology to business process has resulted in dramatic efficiency gains and increased customer loyalty. He previously worked at Epixtech as a technical writer, trainer, and training designer on the product development teams.

Ian Russell – Technology Strategy
Ian Russell is responsible for technology, product planning and execution for ActiveEvents RegOnline product development. With over 10 years web application design & development management experience, Ian's leadership and product vision helps to bring cutting-edge ActiveEvents products to market. Ian's focus on delivering easy-to-use, high value technology solutions has helped thousands of event planners simplify their event management and registration processes.

David Preston – Director, EMEA
David Preston is a seasoned business and marketing executive, who has lived and worked on three continents. He has had a wide range of senior management positions in his career, from full P&L responsibility as the managing director of European organisations, to head of IBM’s European marketing transformation team based out of Paris. An insightful, creative thinker, David is adept at linking strategy to operational excellence and was responsible for global events marketing management for IBM at its Armonk, N.Y., headquarters. David's passion for enhancing the customer experience with the appropriate use of technology is born out of his background in electro-mechanical engineering from Surrey University, England, and combined with being a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing. David lectures regularly at University of Greenwich, London, in both event marketing and measurement. David is currently the Director, EMEA, for the Active Network and ActiveEvents, who deliver integrated technology solutions, marketing services and online media properties that encourage and enable participation in sporting and leisure activities and corporate events.
